Browser extension

Install the extension, sign in, and fill logins on websites.

The extension fills logins on websites and offers to save new ones. It's free on the Chrome Web Store and updates itself automatically.

Install on Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, or Vivaldi#

  1. 1

    Open the store listing

  2. 2

    Add it

Click Add to Chrome (or Get), then Add extension. In Edge, allow extensions from other stores when asked; in Opera, install its Install Chrome Extensions add-on first.
  3. 3

Pin KeepInVault to your toolbar from the puzzle-piece menu so it's one click away.

Open the popup. There are two ways in:

  • Email and master password — works anywhere.
  • "Log in with web" — borrows the session from an already-unlocked KeepInVault tab, so you don't retype anything. That tab has to be open and unlocked.

Using it day to day#

  • On any login form, a small KeepInVault icon appears in the password field. Click it to pick which saved login to fill.
  • For saved payment cards, open the popup and choose the card there — the extension fills the form for you.
  • After you submit a login it doesn't recognise, a panel offers to save it — or to update the stored password if it changed.
  • The popup also has a password generator and a quick add item form.

Do this next

Your browser's own password manager will keep popping up over KeepInVault until you turn it off. See Browser configuration.

Firefox and Safari#

Firefox isn't on addons.mozilla.org yet. Download the .zip from the extension page, unzip it, and load it via about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox → "Load Temporary Add-on". Firefox only keeps unsigned extensions for the current session, so you'll reload it after each restart until there's a signed listing.

Safari isn't supported yet — it requires shipping the extension inside a signed, notarized app through the App Store.
