Android app & autofill
Install the app, sign in with a QR code, and make KeepInVault your system autofill service.
The Android app is a full vault on its own. Once you make it your autofill service, it also fills logins in other apps and in mobile browsers.
Install and sign in#
- 1
Download the app
Get it from this direct link (also on the home page under "Available on"). It isn't on Google Play yet, so Android will ask you to allow installing from your browser — accept, then open the downloaded file. - 2
Sign in
Use your email and master password — or, faster, tap "Log in with QR code", then on the web app open Settings → Log in on mobile and scan the code shown. - 3
Turn on quick unlock
Under Settings → Security, enable biometric unlock or a Quick PIN so you're not typing a long master password on a phone keyboard.
About the QR code
Turn on autofill#
This is the part that makes KeepInVault fill passwords everywhere else on the phone.
- 1
Open the autofill setting
In the app, go to Settings → Autofill and tap the Autofill row. It reads On or Off depending on whether Android is currently using KeepInVault. - 2
Pick KeepInVault in Android's picker
Tap Open settings. Android's own autofill picker opens — choose KeepInVault and confirm. - 3
Come back to the app
The status flips to On by itself. KeepInVault is now Android's autofill service — see Autofill in other apps for what that looks like in practice.
The same screen lives at Android Settings → System → Languages & input → Autofill service on most devices; some manufacturers put it under Settings → General management, or under Passwords.
Android allows one autofill service at a time
Permissions#
Settings → Permissions shows Camera, Biometric unlock, and Autofill status together. Tap Biometric unlock or Autofill to fix either on the spot; Camera opens your device's settings for the app. Camera is only needed for QR sign-in.
